New District

This is our new district after transfers last week.

For P-Day, we all went to see the Ice Caves.  We walked up a steep but beautiful trail.

The cave was discovered in the early 1900's but was just opened for the public in 2010.  It was very interesting, similar to the Timpanogos Caves but much smaller.

 

On Wednesday, we drove to Sibiu for Zone Training.  Our missionaries do such a great job training and motivating each other. We are surprised at how much we learn from these young missionaries.

We drove to a little town called Codlea where a world famous sculptor, Nicolae Diaconu lives. We bought a small nativity scene from him and enjoyed seeing his work.

It is interesting to us that some of the older women love to color their hair many different bright colors.  They love mahogany, orange, green, and purple.  Since the older generation does it, the teenagers don't do it.  Maybe Sister Powell will go home with purple hair and start a new fad.

We love going to the small little towns with the missionaries to teach the gospel.  On this trip, one neighbor was walking his pig and the others were heading to town in their wagons.

We received some letters from our grandkids - it made our day! It was so fun to go into the office and have everyone tell us "You have a Letter!" Missionaries love to get letters.  Thanks kids!

We had to speak in sacrament meeting on Sunday.  We often get asked with little or no notice so we try to be prepared.  They will also call on us during a lesson to answer questions and it is difficult when you don't understand the language and what has been previously said.  It's always exciting and keeps us humble but we love being missionaries.
