Brasov Apartment

Monday we took the train to Brasov and stayed with the Heningers while we tried to find a new apartment.









The Heningers are from Canada and will be finishing their mission the first week in July. They were so kind to us and we really enjoyed staying with them. They are good friends.







We will be leaving our apartment on the shore of the Black Sea and going to the mountains.

The temperature is about 10 degrees cooler on average which will be nice for the summer but colder in the winter.





We found an apartment and were able to sign a one year contract and will be moving the last week in June.

We were very lucky to get this apartment, the building is only 1 year old and our apartment has never been lived in. Everything is brand new.

On the way back we had a 2 hour layover in Bucharest which was really fun because it was transfer day for the missionaries.

The missionaries all meet at the train station, find their new companions and get back on the train to their new cities.  Some of them have to wait several hours for their next train so they pile all of the luggage in the station and take turns guarding it while the others go eat and look around Bucharest.


We had three new missionaries transfer to Constanta.

On Friday we were invited to attend a ceremony at the University of Constanta for Brother W. Cole Durham.

Brother W. Cole Durham from the BYU Law School was given an honorary Doctorate Degree. Bro. Durham specializes in constitutional and religious law. He has traveled all over the world promoting freedom of religion and tolerance.





 
The Arch-Bishop of the Orthodox Church was at the ceremony.

He is referred to as "His Eminence" and presides over the Orthodox Church in the Constanta area.






Following the ceremony we were invited to attend the dinner for Bro. Durham. It was a 5 course dinner and was so interesting. 

The Arch-Bishop presided at the dinner and we had an evening that we will remember for years to come. We gave His Eminence a pass-along card and had a lively discussion about religious doctrines.

This is Steliana, a member of our branch. She is older and lives with her son. She is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She is the sweetest lady. Last week, she wandered off and got lost. For three days they didn't know where she was. We were all very worried about her. On Sunday, the branch president asked the branch to pray for her by name. After church, the Relief Society president was riding home on the bus when she saw Steliana standing at the side of the road. She jumped off the bus and was able to take her home. Steliana was dehydrated and hungry but is doing fine. We truly saw a miracle and it has strengthened our branch to see prayers being answered.
