Baptism ??

We went with Elder Covey and Elder McAllister to find a  new investigator. It had been raining and this dirt road seemed to go on forever. The people came out of their houses to watch us as we drove down the street.  They were very curious about who we were.

The houses were not marked but after asking several people we finally found the house. The person was quite receptive, promised to read from the Book of Mormon and agreed to have a lesson next week.

The next day we stopped by Peles Castle and took a short tour. The woodwork and craftsmanship were amazing. You had to pay a fee to take pictures which we didn't know about until after the tour had started - so no pictures.

 



On Thursday we went with Sister Drotar and Sister Merrill for a lesson with the Pavels. There are four families living together in the house and three of them had new babies - ages 1mo, 2 mo and 3 mo. None of the three mothers are members of the Church and they all sit in on the lessons and participate.

This is Patrick. He is the only deacon in our branch. He is such a good boy and a real strength to his family. This is his new baby brother who had to go to the hospital a few weeks ago because he wouldn't stop crying. They found he has very small tubes in his ears but the doctors don't know how to do anything about it.

One of their sons lives next door with his family and they invited us over to listen to the father and son perform. This is a traditional Romanian song. The son has learned to play by ear without any lessons.

We also went to visit another one of the sister's investigators who is planning on getting married Sunday. She asked the missionaries to dye her hair and help do her sisters hair for the wedding. They actually taught them a lesson on the Plan of Salvation while they did their hair.

Elder Powell played "Angry Birds" on our Kindle with the kids while the girls did their hair.

Everyone got together for a group picture before we left. They have 10 children and over 20 grandchildren. Most of them came for the wedding.

We were invited to come by Sunday afternoon after the wedding ceremony. When we got there they introduced us to the ministers of their church (Pentecostal Church) who had performed the marriage ceremony.

What we didn't know was that after their wedding ceremony, they had planned to be baptized in the Pentecostal Church. They were baptized by immersion in a stream close to their home. It made for an interesting visit but I don't think we can count this baptism. They have a really nice family and hopefully in the future they will take the missionary lessons.
