Goodbyes and Hellos

We said goodbye to Lidia, our wonderful landlord here in  Constanta. She has become a good friend and we will miss her and our apartment by the Black Sea.

We got up at 4:00am to catch the train to Bucharest at 5:00am where we picked up the mission van (Big Blue) and drove it back to Constanta. The hardest part of the trip was getting out of Bucharest. It is a huge city with horrible traffic - the roads resemble a spiders web only not as organized.

We spent the next two days packing and loading the van.



We left early Thursday morning on our way to Brasov. One of the first things we noticed were the fields of sunflowers. The morning sun was shining on them and they were beautiful.







It was interesting to see how all of their yellow heads followed the sun.

They have completed a new freeway from Constanta to Bucharest. It was so nice to drive on a brand new road.

We cross over the Danube River, which runs between Bucharest and Constanta.

 Here is our new apartment in Brasov. This is the living room.

The building is only one year old. Everything is brand new, including the plumbing, power, etc.. We even have our own breaker box.

Hopefully no more brown water or sewer gas from the drains.



The kitchen connects to the living room and is all open.









We have a nice patio overlooking the playground /garden area.

We are on the third floor of a 10 story building and don't get a lot of direct sunshine in our windows.  We haven't had any sunshine yet because it has been raining everyday since we got here.





 
 
There is a brand new American style elevator in our building. This is the first ones we have seen in Romania.










This is our new little car. It is a Skoda brand which we understand is made by Volkswagen. One of the great things about our apartment is that we were able to rent a parking space in the underground parking garage in our building. Our elevator goes from the parking garage to our apartment.

All of the mission cars have "LDS" on their license plates.

No more carrying heavy groceries on two busses and walking the 1/2 mile from the bus stop to our apartment. Yahoo!!

It gets quite cold and snowy during the Winter in Brasov so it will be really nice to not have to scrape windows.



We have spent the past few days with Elder and Sora Heninger who are from Canada and are finishing their mission. They have been so helpful and kind to us and have taught us so much. We are grateful to them and will miss them. We wish them well in their new adventures at home.
